A Sound Life is a non profit organisation very close to my heart and one that I’m extremely passionate about. Established in 2013 by two amazing individuals and very dear friends Edo and Jo Kahn, A Sound Life brings free music, yoga and meditation sessions to people facing hardships and communities in need.
Servicing a range of hospitals, healthcare, aged care, disability, rehabilitation, refuge and youth facilities, ASL brings free music, yoga and meditation sessions to people facing hardships and communities in need.
My involvement with A Sound Life began when I started teaching yoga at Westmead Children’s Hospital for a therapeutic yoga program for adolescents living with Eating Disorders. Both professional and personally, being involved in this program was a powerful and humbling learning experience for me and one that really opened my eyes to the impact that yoga and meditation can play in the comprehensive process of healing and self-empowerment.
Over time I became more involved with A Sound Life, volunteering on a weekly basis sharing yoga with a variety of different groups of people – from a beautiful and inspiration group of young women living in a small women’s refuge, to a remarkable group of individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities, to adolescents living with mental health disorders. No matter what the session is, I’m constantly reminded of the benefits that giving from the heart and service to others has. And not just for those receiving the yoga – it’s during our weekly sessions with these groups that I walk away with a new understanding and heartfelt experience of perspective, gratitude and purpose.
As the organisation grew, so did my love for everything A Sound Life does and stands for and I’m so grateful to have taken on the role as Program Manager, managing the running and development of the yoga, music and meditation programs around Sydney, Wollongong and Byron Bay.
