Yoga for Children & Teenagers

Yoga and meditation are wonderful tools for children, tweens and teenagers to have in their tool kits to support them in dealing with the pressures of growing up in todays society.  When children learn techniques for physical self-health,  mindfulness, concentration, relaxation, imagination and self empowerment, they can navigate life’s challenges with a little more ease and confidence.

Practicing yoga at an early age encourages self-esteem and body awareness with a physical activity that’s noncompetitive.  Fostering cooperation and compassion – instead of opposition is a beautiful and powerful gift to give our younger generation.

Yoga for children also offers opportunities to exchange wisdom, share positive and engaged fun times, and lay the foundation for a lifelong practice that will continue to deepen.

Through a tailored yoga practice children learn to:

  • Build healthy, sensitive relationships to their physical bodies. Using adapted physical postures to develop strong, open and physically healthy bodies.
  • Understand and work with the mind and breath. By developing simple and effective meditation and breathing practices, children learn to bring mindfulness and presence into their daily routines. Whether problem solving, working with the imagination or calming agitated emotional states, these methods assist children in dealing with issues as they arise in daily life.
  • Take full responsibility for their overall health, wellbeing and happiness.  Learning yoga and meditation allows young people to get in the drivers seat of their own lives, making empowered decisions, exploring every aspect of who they are and what is imporntant to them.
